Interested in ordering Oosterschelde lobster, crab, oysters, or mussels?
Some crustaceans we import from Canada; others we cultivate ourselves. Wherever our products come from, they are always fresh, delicious and of the highest quality. We are certain of how delicious Canadian lobsters are and have worked for 30 years with specific suppliers in complete satisfaction. Our mussels carry the "excellent" label and at the farm, they are given all the time they need to become properly flavourful.
Verwijs’ Kreeftenparken imports the majority of its lobsters from the cleanest waters in the world, which are found around Nova Scotia, Canada. Once the lobsters have arrived by aeroplane in the Netherlands or Belgium, they are immediately transported to our covered lobster farms in Yerseke. In the reservoirs, water from the Oosterschelde is organically filtered and cooled, giving the lobsters a habitat that is as close to nature as possible. Here, the lobsters recover from their journey and purify themselves before they are sent on to the client.
Verwijs imports European lobsters from the United Kingdom. The European lobster distinguishes itself from the Canadian lobster with its blue-black colour and the texture of its flesh.
Between 1 April and 15 July, lobsters may be harvested from the Oosterschelde and Lake Grevelingen. The DNA of the Oosterschelde lobster is different to that of the Canadian lobster and the texture of its flesh provides a more refined, delicate taste. During the season, we purchase delicious Oosterschelde lobsters from the auction in Colijnsplaat every week.
Brown crab is caught in the waters around the United Kingdom and the Netherlands. These crabs are purified in our reservoirs and prepared for transport to our clients.
Verwijs-van der Endt bv buys its mussels at the mussel auction in Yerseke. After purchase, we sow our mussels over our leased land along the Oosterschelde. Here, mussels are harvested every day during the mussel season and they are given the time to purify themselves of sand before they are made ready for consumption in our factory, where they also receive the "excellent" label. Our mussels are packaged in leak-proof containers (2 kg) or in traditional burlap bags (15 kg).
At our oyster farm on the banks of the Oosterschelde and Lake Grevelingen, we cultivate delicious Zeeland oysters. The Zeeland creuse is primarily cultivated in the Oosterschelde, as well as in Lake Grevelingen. We cultivate Zeeland flat oysters in Lake Grevelingen. Once the oysters are ready for consumption, they are harvested by Verwijs’ and we store them in the pits at our private harbour, where they purify themselves of sand before they are sorted and packaged for the client.
